* Install Win7 (using the original KEY for Win7) So if I sold this crap, I probably could not afford another decent one that will do what we need. I would sell it, but I need it for studies, and my young daughter likes to watch videos and play minecraft on it (NOT loaded back on since the fresh install). All these programs are loaded on my neighbours laptop as well (as I upgraded it for her) and it plays everything fine even though she has a cheap ASUS that seems to take double the time of my laptop to do anything.
The software I have installed is: DirectX9 / WinRAR / WinZip / VLC / FireFox / Flashplayer (firefox) / Java / Primo PDF / Daemon Tools 10 (to load ISO files) / / notepad ++ / office 2013 / K-Lite v1137 (tested movies/tv shows before loading K-Lite and problems did exist). Tried turning off the inbuilt FN devices (wireless/pad etc). Checked to make sure there are no unknown devices. I have made sure that I have the latest VIDEO driver. I used windows inbuilt function to check for RAM errors. I have made sure that the HDD/RAM etc are not hitting 100% in the background (turned off prefetch/superfetch). I have tried the Win10 inbuilt players, and the 32bit and 64bit of VLC. To try to fix this issue, I formatted the HDD, fresh loaded win 8.1 and then upgraded to Win10. I have tried playing the files off of the network, and off of the HDD, no difference, still has the same issue every 60 secs. The tested files work on all other PC's/movie boxes/TV's without any problems, NO other device plays up. The movies/tv shows do not crash and will play till the end. It actually looks as if I have paused the video, but continued the audio.
* Every 60 seconds the video of any movie (mkv/mp4/avi) seems to freeze for 1-2 secs, but the audio continues just fine while the video then skips to keep up. I had the following issue immediately after upgrading: The conversion takes about 20 minutes for a 110 minute movie. When Windows 10 came out, I upgraded to it as soon as it was allowable. I did this to get streaming working on my Xbox 360.
Go Here To get instructions of how to convert using VLC. I now convert all avi's to WMV using VLC.
Luckily I knew that the offender was an AVI file and I removed the particular directory from my library. You will need to remove all the directories in the library that you are sharing or else the offending video file will once again be in your library and you will be at sqaure one.
Once you restart Media player your library will be blank. I also deleted all the other files in here. to Currentdatabase_***.bak (*** being the library version mine was 360.)
Rename the file Currentdatabase_***.wmdb. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\ user_name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player in explorer. It will pop up a warning after each time you attempt to stop a process just click yes. Scroll down to 'W' and stop all the processes begining with wmp. You will first have to stop all the media sharing processes, to do this hit CTRL, ALT & DELETE click the processes tab and order them by name by clicking Image Name. Make sure you have set hidden files and system files to show. In this example i will be using the C:\ drive as my home drive where Windows is installed. THESE ACTIONS WILL COMPLETELY REMOVE YOUR LIBRARY MEANING YOU WILL HAVE TO REBUILD IT FROM SCRATCH. After uninstalling, reinstalling and finding you can never fully remove your library by running uninstalls i realised it must be something in my profile which was causing the problem. I'm a newbiie but found this whilst i had problems with Media player 11.
